What is a health declaration?

Sometimes the insurance company needs additional information about an individual's health and therefore requests a health declaration. The health declaration is usually a set of questions based on the individual's health, previous injuries or illnesses and treatment received. Based on the answers in the health declaration, the insurance company then makes a judgement on whether or not risk insurance can be provided to the individual.

The insurer may decide to offer risk insurance without reservations, offer risk insurance with a clause or increased premium, or choose not to offer risk insurance in view of the answers given in the health declaration.
