As an employer, am I obliged to pay occupational pension contributions?

If the company is covered by a collective agreement, the employer is obliged to pay occupational pensions to the employees. The collectively agreed occupational pension scheme has certain frameworks and rules on how and how much should be paid in.

There is no requirement for companies not covered by a collective agreement to pay occupational pensions to their employees. However, it is common for employers to choose to offer occupational pensions anyway. In many cases, occupational pensions that are not covered by a collective agreement can be adapted to suit the company in question. However, it is recommended that around 4.5% of salary is paid into an occupational pension each month.
